THEVI COLOR OF THE WEEK : CERULEAN (BLUE)
Today we begin daily color inspiration for your lifestyle - each day we will highlight a Thevi color of the week and its influence in our home, food, spirituality, nature and fashion.

Cerulean Food Inspiration
Battle Against the Golden Arches
Today I stuffed my face with McDonald’s Mushroom Angus burger… with fries. I must sadly admit that this is nothing out of the ordinary and vegetables have become a part of my childhood memories (although, in my defense, I did select Diet Coke versus my initial craving of the regular kind). So little to my surprise, when I checked in my compact mirror after my meal, my normal-to-oily skin was extra oily and blemishes have started taking over my entire face. To say the least, it was not attractive. The same dilemma, how could something that tastes so good be so bad for you? So, after hours of googling and self loathing my lack of self control, I finally found a solution: blueberries! A delicious fruit with amazing health benefits would also be a cooling treat in a journey across town in this unbearable heat.

Blueberries have been proven to contain valuable antioxidants and photochemicals to reduce cell damage and neutralize DNA damaging free radicals. It is considered to be one of the top five foods recommended for healthy skin. In other words, blueberries can help you have younger looking skin in addition to leading a healthy lifestyle, which I hear is a good thing to practice although I have yet to experience it myself.

BEAUTY TIP:
Here is the great recipe I found for the Blueberry Face Pack to keep wrinkles and fine lines far in the distant future:

5-6 fresh blueberries
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp yogurt
3 tbsp ground almonds

  1. First, mix these ingredients together using a blender and apply to face and neck regions.
  2. Next, rinse off after twenty minutes.
  3. Repeat this procedure once a week to get the best results
If you are also having problems with excess oil, you can also tweak this recipe to use as a toner. By substituting honey for the ground almonds and rinsing off after ten minutes, this recipe can be as a toner to control oil and fight blemishes.

I am off to attempt this and hopefully to also find some motivation to lead a healthier lifestyle. Please share your great recipes for face masks or any advice on how to avoid the irresistible golden arches.
